The Izaline Calister Band

Izaline put together her band in 1998. The group of talented musicians mainly hailing from Curaçao, recorded four cd-releases with Izaline and accompanied her on the North Sea Jazz-Festivals in The Hague and South-Africa. They toured Guatemala, Mexico and Costa-Rica, performed in Spain, Hungary, Estonia and regularly in Curaçao. In 2002 and 2004 Izaline and band toured the Dutch theaters to much critical acclaim.


Izaline Calister - leader, lead-vocalist, composer, lyricist

Marc Bischoff - piano

Young and highly talented on piano, keyboards and melodica. Graduated with distinction on the Rotterdam Conservatory in 2001, where he currently teaches Latin ensembles. He is wellknown as oustanding arranger, and arranged ‘Dia Bo Pagami’ for Izaline Calister on her cd ‘Kanta Hélele’. Plays with Rumbatá, Cubop City Bigband, Nueva Manteca, La Banda Iré, Palo Seco and Estrella Acosta. Check his Myspace-page.

Roël Calister - drums, percussion

As the younger brother of Izaline
, Roël was the first addition to the IC-band. Interested in old Curaçao traditions he taught himself to play the kachu (a cow horn), the benta and many other traditional instruments so important to the sound of the group. By now he has developed and earned a name for himself in music, playing with Portuguese singer Sara Tavares and Aruba-based Intwine, to name two. More of his whereabouts on www.roelcalister.com.

Ed Verhoeff - guitar

Studied at the conservatories of Utrecht and Den Haag. Played theatres and concert-stages with Deborah Carter, Randy Crawford, Lilian Vieira, Lincoln Goines, Philip Catherine and with famous Dutch artists Paul van Vliet, Ramses Shaffy, Hein van de Geyn, Freek de Jonge, Acda en de Munnik, Josee Koning en Matilde Santing.
Teaches at the Rotterdam and Amsterdam conservatories.
Composer, arranger and guitarplayer Ed Verhoeff is currently working on his own project, more on www.edverhoeff.com.

Julio Hernandez - sound engineer

For their technical support, the band relies heavily on the services of Julio Hernandez. By now, he knows the music inside-out. Because of his involvment he is considered to be a true band-member.
