October 28, Merida - After this, we forgot to make pictures. The short ‘vacation’ was kind of suddenly over.

Hurricane Wilma finally caught up with us. We found out all flights leaving Cancun had been cancelled. The only way to leave Mexico any time
soon would be to change our flights and leave from Mexico City on Sunday, to arrive in Amsterdam one day late on Monday morning. Otherwise… there were talks about arriving in Amsterdam on the 12th of November…

So we changed the tickets. With the great help of The Dutch Royal Embassy we arranged a bus to drive us to Mexico City in 20 hours (what a big country) and we left Mexico as planned, on Sunday morning. We had to run to catch the plane in Mexico City and we ran to catch the plane in New York. We were tired, wet, stressed and grumpy. But we made it!!

Back in Holland, after sleeping for a few days I can only say: Thank you all the nice people of Mexico. Thank you mister Jan-Jaap van de Velde, Embassador of the Royal Dutch Embassy and his lovely wife. Thank you Janneke de Geus from the Royal Dutch Embassy. Thank you Nathalie van Veenendaal, Simona van Tiel, Peter Brandjes, Victor Modderkolk, Reno Steba, Roël Calister, Rendel Rosalia, Ed Verhoeff, Mark Milan, Julio Hernandez and Niata Augusta. Thank you Liliana Gonzales Lobo. Thank you Rolien Beute. Thank you Paco, thank you Carlos Reyes and all organizers of Festival Cervantino.

Thanks to you all, Mexico has been an unforgettable experience. We want more!!!
